It’s also time for the Black Friday sales for Cyber Weekend and Cyber Monday which means it’s time to spend some time in the material happiness for until Tuesday. And buy the things you’ve been dreaming of (things you actually NEED) -without forgetting the holiday season because this is the perfect timing to do some gift shopping with amazing offers that make sure your wallet gets an easy pass.
Before getting into the whole Cyber Weekend and Cyber Monday spirit, I would like to share my thoughts about it.
It’s such an important thing to celebrate the environment, say no to overspending and our consuming habits need desperately to be changed. So I’m all in for the Don’t Buy Anything Day. But the thing I’m questioning is that why do it today from all the rest of the 364 days? Why is it more different than for example season sales, like Summer Sale, Mid Season Sales, New Years Sale and so on? Let me explain.
Against the Shopping Hysteria -but behalf of saving BIG
To me, this week is the one-of-a-kind. Yes, we do have sales often but I’ve noticed that Black Week has the best deals. That for me, or more likely to my wallet, means focusing to these days during the weekend and week and waiting for those needed items to have a Black Week sale tag. Buying things I couldn’t afford any “regular day” so Black Week actually means making better, more sustainable, choices. I don’t overspend but instead, these Black Week deals make it possible to stretch my wallet and buy the things I actually need and let me think more how sustainable something is than how expensive it is or can I actually afford it.
Besides, it’s Holiday season which means it’s time to do some gift shopping with more affordable prices -I love to give presents to my loved ones and always making sure it would be something they need. I love buying also second-hand finds for gifts coz’ Today there are soooooo many things with still tags on it at the second-hand shops. When it comes to only kids, I’m an aunt to six wonderful kiddos, a godmother to four wonderful kiddos -and a proud mama of my precious. Only that will make sure that during the Holiday season money comes in and goes out -and for me that 20% discount is a huge deal, not to mention bigger discounts.
Affordable and Sustainable Choices
So NO, this is NOT buy-anything-you-want-even-though-you-don’t-really-need-it day. For me and I believe for soooooo many other people too, this is a colourful week: a chance to finally be able to buy those new shoes after old ones haven’t keep warm and dry since a couple of months now. To be able to buy needed things -not because of the shopping hysteria but because FINALLY, those items are affordable enough even for a little wallet.
No reason to feel guilty or ashamed
I’m all in for the Don’t Buy Anything Day -or actually, I’m all in, for example, Don’t Buy Anything Month. But no, I’m not going to feel ashamed or guilty about finally being able to spend the money on the things I’ve been dreaming of and really need. And neither should you if you buy the things you need and things that will serve you for a long time haul.
